Kate Ive


Kate Ive is an Edinburgh based artist and researcher, working from her studio at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop. She graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2008 with a degree in Sculpture BA (Hons).

Her work is represented in both public and private collections, including the British Museum, NHS, Royal Mint Museum, National Bank of Slovakia, University Museum of Bergen, Norway and The Museum of Paper, Fabriano Italy. 

Kate has been selected as Lead Artist for notable public art projects and commissions including amongst others, the Opposing War Memorial, Princes Street Gardens (Edinburgh), the new Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh), Department of Clinical Neuroscience and the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, National Museum of Scotland and the Scottish Government.

Kate brings her precise skills and artistic experience to create uniquely detailed ball markers with the finest handmade craftsmanship.

Bronze, Medals & Markers

Kate maintains a diverse practice, making work for international exhibitions, residencies and public art commissions. Kate is an award-winning artist and experienced medal-maker. She was selected as the British Art Medal Society’s ‘New Medallist’ 2011-12 and is now a council member for BAMS. In 2012, she was artist-in-residence at the Royal Mint and now regularly mentors new medal-makers.

Kate works in many materials, including wax, ceramics and bronze having set up a foundry. With an eye for detail, she engraves intricate designs and surfaces in her artwork. Most recently she completed a residency at the European Ceramic Work Centre, The Netherlands (2022), creating new ceramic sculptures.
